Acute Health Effects: From MSDS Inhalation: Respiratory irritant. Inhalation may cause moderate irritation. Inhalation may also cause adverse nervous system effects. Possible sensitizer. Inhalation may cause an allergic reaction. Eye Contact: Eye irritant. Eye contact may cause moderate irritation. Skin Contact: Sin irritant. Skin contact may cause moderate irritation. Possible sensitizer. Skin contact may cause an allergic reaction. Ingestion: Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal irritation and adverse nervous system effects. Chronic Health Effects: From MSDS Sodium perborate is irritating to the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. Ingestion or absorption through mucous membranes may cause systemic effects on the central nervous system such as irritability, restlessness, headache, agitation, and delirium. Ingestion may also cause anorexia, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Local use in the mouth may cause chemical burns and retraction of the gums. Exposure to high doses of sodium perborate may cause adverse liver and kidney effects. Sodium perborate causes mutations and DNA repair damage in bacterial cells. EDTA is irritating to the eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. EDTA causes mutations and DNA damage in mammalian cells. Offspring of pregnant rats administered EDTA showed a small increase in tail abnormalities. However, there is no evidence of adverse developmental effects in humans. Sodium monopersulfate causes skin irritation in guinea pigs. It also releases histamine in rats and guinea pigs suggesting the possibility for allergic reaction.

Handling: From MSDS Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated area away from heat, sparks, open flame and incompatible materials. Store in suitable labeled containers kept closed and protected from damage. Have emergency equipment (for fires, spills, etc.) readily available.
